Black Hills Symphony Orchestra with the LA Percussion Quartet

We are very excited to announce this collaborative event with the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra and Rapid City native Nick Terry and his Los Angeles Percussion Quartet.

The L.A. Percussion Quartet (LAPQ) is an innovative and dynamic chamber music ensemble that has earned multiple nominations for the 2013 Grammy Awards. Their performance features commissioned works by some of California’s’ greatest composers. Throughout the LAPQ’s five-year history, their performances have delighted audiences in concert halls, museums, warehouses, and living room salons, with appearances in many of California’s most distinguished concert series, including Monday Evening Concerts, Music and Conversations, People Inside Electronics, Morrison Artists, Fullerton Friends of Music, April in Santa Cruz, and the L.A. Composers Project.

The LAPQ have presented workshops and masterclasses to young musicians at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, University of Southern California, California Institute of the Arts, CSU Sacramento/Bakersfield/East Bay, and Occidental College, among others, to promote outreach and music education.

The LAPQ consists of five members, Matthew Cook, Justin DeHart, Cory Hille, and Nick Terry. The members of the LAPQ are active freelance performers and educators throughout Southern California, and are graduates of leading music conservatories, including the University of California – San Diego, Oberlin Conservatory, Northwestern University, the Thornton School of Music (USC), and the Herb Alpert School of Music (CalArts).\

You can learn more about the individual members as well as hear samples of their works on the LAPQ website.
