BHCT’s Discovery Series Presents:
Gee’s Bend
by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder
Date: June 19 2027
Time: 7pm Studio Theater
In celebration of Juneteenth, we take a look at the turbulent history of African Americans in the 20th century. Told from the perspective of the Pettway family in the real community of Gee’s Bend, Alabama. Patching together stories from 1939 to 2002 with gospel music, results in a hauntingly beautiful work reminiscent of the community’s famous quilts.
