Formed in 2024, award-winning Quartetto Speranza, coached by Desirée Ruhstrat, features violinists Cecilia O’Malley and Alison Chung, violist Callia Murray, and cellist Diego Dahle. Comprised of some of Chicago’s top young prizewinners, its members have collectively garnered awards from the Society of American Musicians, DePaul Concerto Festival, Walgreens National Concerto, MTNA, Chicago Chamber Music Festival, Lakeview Young Artist, Black Hills Young Artist, Crain-Maling, SDSO Young Artist, Minnesota YPSCA Concerto, and Robert Stanger Young Artist Competitions.
The group shares an excellent sense of humor both inside and outside the rehearsal room and enjoys nothing more than exchanging amusing anecdotes over a dinner of several wood-fired pizzas. The Italian name of the ensemble, Speranza, meaning hope, signifies the musicians’ desire to bring hope to the world through their love of chamber music.
